Mithras

Taking a web page from multi-tasking black color steel and industrial works, which often contain just two or perhaps a solo individual, Mithras certainly are a Uk death steel “group” originally founded in 1998 by Rayner Coss (vocals/bass) and Leon Macey (guitar/drums/keyboards), who later asked session (and sometime live) drummer Ben White for the documenting of the 2002 debut album, Forever Evolving…Legions. The primary duo would deal with all musical instruments themselves on the next year’s Worlds Beyond the Veil, which extended upon its predecessor’s peculiar formulation, blending a “traditional” Floridian loss of life steel template with psychedelic electric guitar solos and spacy lyrics, quite exclusive to Mithras’ sound. This uniqueness got the music group agreed upon to Candlelight Information because of its third LP, 2006’s critically acclaimed Behind the Shadows Rest Madness, that was backed on tour by an extended lineup offering second guitarist Alex de Moller (ex-Scythian) and drummer Sean Broster. But Rayner Coss’ decade-long participation with Mithras would unfortunately come to a finish in 2008, carrying out a headline display in London, and even though the divided was apparently amicable, it compelled the rest of the bandmembers (today including a reinstated Ben Light on drums) to venture out and discover a worthy replacement unit. Which they do, most critics and enthusiasts agree, by recruiting vocalist/bassist Sam Bean, from the Berzerker popularity, and then starting on an up to now untitled fourth record.
