Jerusalem-based alt-rockers missFlag may have never discovered an audience beyond their indigenous Israel if indeed they hadn’t trapped a chord with KCRW DJ Nic Harcourt in 2007. Produced in 2005 and made up of vocalist Ohad Eliam, guitarist Assa Bukelman, keyboardist Gil Assayas, bassist Shai Saadia, and drummer Assaf Krauss, the group modeled themselves after moody, reverb-slicked United kingdom serves like Coldplay and Snow Patrol. Probably in virtue of their familiar, available sound, not forgetting the actual fact that they sang in British, the group discovered some success marketing themselves via MySpace. They ultimately caught the interest of KCRW’s Harcourt in early 2007 using the one “Concealed Thieves”; the tune made its method in to the station’s playlist, and Harcourt continued to request the band to execute reside in the KCRW studio room in nov that season.
