Miss Black America

This UK indie band was heralded in a few quarters because the new Manic Street Preachers upon the discharge of the 2002 debut, God Bless Miss Dark America, owing in no small part with their penchant for provocative sloganeering. The nucleus from the Suffolk-based music group is Seymour Cup (vocals/electric guitar), Mickey Smith (bass), and Neil Baldwin (drums), most of whom supposedly initial met in a drum ‘n’ bass evening in Cambridge. The trio shortly began creating a regional following, which resulted in a support slot machine in the Dandy Warhols’ UK tour. In 2000, Miss Dark America released an untitled four-track demonstration, in addition to welcoming towards the fold another guitarist, Gish. The quartet released a steady blast of EPs and singles, resulting in the release of the debut recording in Sept 2002.
