Mira Smith

Mira Smith made modest marks within the music market like a label owner and songwriter. From your mid-’50s to the first 1960s, she ran a studio room in Shreveport, Louisiana (ahead of that there had just been 1 in the town, in a radio train station), and in addition ran the Ram memory label (which had a Clif subsidiary). With this capability, she recorded Wayne Burton, ahead of his rise to popularity playing acoustic guitar for Dale Hawkins and Ricky Nelson, in addition to Joe Osborne who, with Burton, became a high Los Angeles program musician within the ’60s. She and Ram memory also cut a slew of small hillbilly, rockabilly, and blues performers, like Tarheel Slim, Sonny Boy Williamson (unrelated to either of both blues celebrities who passed that name), and Larry Bamberg. Ram memory went of business in the first ’60s after operating into monetary and distribution problems. A couple of years later on, however, Smith created a songwriting collaboration with Margaret Lewis, an eclectic (but not excellent) designer who experienced mixed rockabilly, blues, nation, and swamp pop on produces for Ram memory, a few of which Lewis and Smith acquired co-written. After shifting to Nashville, they positioned hit materials with performers like David Houston (“Hill of Like”), Margaret Whiting (“I Nearly Known as Your Name”), and Peggy Scott and Jo Jo Benson (“Soulshake”). That they had their most significant success with nation superstar Jeannie C. Riley, who acquired country hits making use of their “THE LADY PROBABLY,” “The Rib,” “Nation Gal,” and “Oh, Vocalist.”
