Mira Calix

A promoter, DJ and formerly a publicist at Warp Information, Mira Calix was signed to her personal Warp agreement in 1996 to record abstract atmosphere that uses wide selection of audio sources, organic or elsewhere. Born and elevated in South Africa, she relocated to London in 1991 and started working in the Ambient Soho shop on Berwick St., while DJing and tossing celebrations with her flatmate, Solid Metal mixer Purely Kev. She started operating at Warp, and documented an individual (“Llanga,” having a Gescom co-production credit) and an EP (Pin Skeeling) prior to making her full-length debut with 2000’s Private. The fruits of her 1st Peel Session made an appearance later that 12 months, and second LP Skimskitta adopted in early 2003. Calix offers frequently teamed up with Andrea Parker and Tag Clifford (ex-Seefeel) for productions.
