Mini-Mekons

Mini-Mekons was the moniker used to recognize an abbreviated edition from the enduring U.K. folk-punk group the Mekons if they set out on the 2014 tour of Scotland in tandem using the American vocalist and songwriter Robbie Fulks. Featuring longtime Mekons users Jon Langford (vocals, acoustic guitar, percussion), Sally Timms (vocals), Suzie Honeyman (violin), and Rico Bell (acoustic guitar, vocals), aswell as regular associate Lu Edmonds (saz, harmonium, vocals), the group was absent drummer Steve Goulding and guitarist and vocalist Tom Greenhalgh, possibly the reason behind the uncommon billing. Throughout a 2014 Scottish tour, Fulks as well as the Mini-Mekons spent many days around the isle of Jura, where in fact the populace of sheep considerably outnumbers that of human beings, and a distillery may be the primary employer. Throughout their stick to the isle, Fulks as well as the Mekons published and recorded a small number of songs, that have been offered on vinyl fabric as a particular Record Store Day time 2015 launch, fittingly entitled Jura. The limited-edition launch quickly sold-out, and Bloodshot Information re-released Jura on Compact disc in August 2016.
