Mike Shiflet

Columbus, Ohio-based guitarist Mike Shiflet started Gameboy Information in the past due 1990s, releasing small tapes, 7″s, and CD-Rs by a large number of sound and experimental performers, including John Wiese, Dick E.S.P., Lasse Marhaug, Sudden Baby, and Crank Sturgeon. Shiflet’s myriad recordings and shows explored harsh sound and drone, frequently concentrating on high frequencies. He became a member of violinist C. Spencer Yeh’s ensemble Burning up Star Primary in 2004, showing up on many of the group’s recordings, including Operator Deceased… Post Abandoned and Papercuts Theatre. Shiflet relocated to Japan in 2006, carrying on to use Gameboy Information until 2008, when he relocated back again to America. He released collaborations and splits with several performers, including Aaron Dilloway, Daniel Menche, Keith Fullerton Whitman, and Ryan Jewell, and released a set of single albums on Type, 2011’s Victims and 2012’s Merciless. He came back to Enter 2015 along with his most atmospheric, melodic recording to day, Awake, a cooperation with Rhode Island-based Large Aura’d.
