Mighty Zandolie

The Mighty Zandolie, born Sylvester Anthony, was among the dominant “rude bwoys” of calypso through the 1960s and ’70s, as well as the prime innovator of what were later on called “smuts,” the sly twice entendre songs which appear in early American blues aswell. Zandolie documented many classic tunes, including “Guy Family members” and “Stickman,” and spent enough time in the us aswell. Though Trinidad’s calypso marketplace had in huge part shifted by the past due ’90s, Rounder released a live recording offering Mighty Zandolie plus two aged partners in criminal offense, Lord Blakie and Dark Prince.
