Founded by vocalist Carmen Elise Espenaes and guitarist Chris Hector in 2002, Midnattsol (signifying “midnight direct sun light” in Norwegian) had been a symphonic steel group that dabbled a little in Nordic folk traditions. The set soon curved out the band’s roster by adding guitarist Daniel Droste, bassist Birgit Ollbruner, keyboardist Daniel Fischer, and drummer Chris Murzinsky, and their 2003 self-titled demonstration helped to earn a cope with Napalm Information. Their first record, Where Twilight Dwells, premiered in 2005, resulting in a touring slot machine with In Extremo and celebration performances at Influx Gotik and Summertime Air flow. In 2008, Midnattsol released their following full-length opus, Nordlys. As the music group was still heading strong during its second discharge, members within the group acquired some side function to be pleased with, with Murzinsky and Ollbrunner using R.We.P., and Hector and Droste dealing with the German doom steel outfit Ahab.
