Mickey Finn

Mickey Finn, a music group not really a person, did several non-hit singles in Britain in the mid-1960s, several that are highly esteemed by Uk Invasion enthusiasts. Originally referred to as Mickey Finn as well as the Blue Guys, the band had been also significant for including Jimmy Web page as an associate for some time, although just briefly. Whether he was a program guy or a full-time member at that time, he probably has on some of their information. The best of these is “Evening BOILS DOWN” (made by Shel Talmy), an R&B raver using a great jazzy tempo and effective vocal. Also great is “Backyard of My Brain,” a good little bit of freakbeat psychedelia that was on the last one, in 1967. “Evening BOILS DOWN” was reissued on AIP’s Electric powered Sugarcubes Flashback compilation; “Backyard of My Brain” and its own flipside, “Period to Start Caring You,” are on a single label’s British Freakbeat Vol. 2; as well as the 1965 solitary “This Sporting Existence,” the additional part of “Night time BOILS DOWN,” is for the See For Kilometers anthology The R&B Picture.
