Mick Hanly

b. Limerick, Eire. Singer-songwriter Hanly was influenced by middle-50s rock and roll ‘n’ move before he became interested in folk within the 60s. After carrying out Woody Guthrie tunes in his free time, in the past due 60s and early 70s he considered the Irish traditional music of his youngsters. As well as Michael O’Domhnaill, he created Monroe, and backed Planxty on the 1973 tour, consequently liberating Folk Weave, before O’Domhnaill remaining for the Bothy Music group in 1975. Hanly visited France for just two years, and, on his go back to Ireland, documented two acclaimed single albums with Donal Lunny, Andy Irvine and Declan Sinnott. Then toured Ireland and European countries with Irvine, who acquired recently still left Planxty. In 1981, Hanly joined up with Moving Hearts being a vocalist, and added his own music to reside Hearts. Following the demise, in 1985, of 1 of Ireland’s most effective and innovative traditional rings, he went single again, and transferred towards nation music. His music were included in Christy Moore, Mary Dark and the united states vocalist Hal Ketchum, who had taken Hanly’s ‘Former THE IDEA Of Recovery’ in to the Top 10 of the united states country graph in 1993.
