Michael Zapruder

San Francisco-based singer/songwriter and guitarist Michael Zapruder initial gained interest as an associate of Patty Spiglanin’s music group the Naked Barbies, which self-released 3 albums (Dance with Vacuums [1994], Tarnished [1996], and Living Independently [1998]) before reconfiguring and renaming themselves the Vagabond Enthusiasts for the 2000 recording ONCE I Was You, released by Monarch Information. At that time, Zapruder experienced embarked on a single project, writing, documenting, and publishing on the web one song weekly for the whole 12 months 1999 (www.52songs.org). On Sept 17, 2002, Zapruder released his debut single album, THAT IS a Beautiful City, on Explorable Oriole. Then created an orchestra dubbed Michael Zapruder’s Rainfall of Frogs from existing SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA rings, the principals including Nate Query from the Decemberists, Jonathan Segel of Camper Vehicle Beethoven, Scott Pinkmountain of Red Hill, Scott Solter of Tiny Phone, and Jon Bernson of Ray’s Vast Cellar. Zapruder’s second recording, New Means of Allowing Go was acknowledged to Michael Zapruder’s Rainfall of Frogs when it had been released on August 15, 2006, by Howells Transmitter.
