Michael P. Dawson

Classical, rock and jazz influences are fused in to the compositions of San Francisco-based multi-instrumentalist and composer, Michael P. Dawson. Although he primarily began like a Dylan-influenced guitarist, Dawson’s music offers increasingly veered for the classical-rock noises pioneered by such rings as Ruler Crimson, Jethro Tull and Emerson, Lake and Palmer. Since producing his last concert appearance, like a flute and saxophone participant, in 1991, Dawson offers focused on studio room function. His debut recording, The Brandnewbug Concerto, premiered for the Elephant Shrew Music label in 1995. A indigenous of NORTH PARK, Dawson started composing unique music in the first 1970s. His 1st orchestral structure was performed from the Crawford SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL College student Orchestra in the springtime of 1973. The receiver of a qualification in biology through the College or university of California in NORTH PARK, Dawson well balanced his science research with music teaching. His educators included composer Pauline Oliveros, pianist Cecil Lytle, harpsichord participant Anthony Newman and contrabassist Bertram Taretzky. A scholarly music journalist, Dawson offers created for Goldmine, Musician, Choice as well as the All Music Guidebook. He identifies his music as “cybernetic chamber music.”
