Michael Harrison

A protégé of minimalist godfather La Monte Adolescent, this conservatory-trained pianist and composer successfully mixes classical, jazz, and cultural affects into his music. Harrison also functions thoroughly with alternate tuning systems and developed what he phone calls the “harmonic piano.” This device is with the capacity of playing 24 records per octave (instead of the typical 12). The strings may also be made to resonate sympathetically like those of a sitar.
