Before making his debut like a single designer, Michael Beauchamp supported and collaborated with several Americana-tinged indie acts located in Southeast Michigan, including Chris Bathgate, Breathe Owl Breathe, as well as the Ambitious Brothers. Beauchamp got mixed up in Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti indie picture while he was students in the College or university of Michigan’s musicology plan; after graduation, Beauchamp continued to study electric guitar under Joel Mabus. My North Voices, Beauchamp’s self-released debut full-length, arrived in 2008; rooted in bluegrass, old-timey, and Americana, the record nodded to touchstones like Neil Teen, Bonnie “Prince” Billy, and Gillian Welch.
