Mi Ami

San Francisco’s “drum punk” trio Mi Ami feature guitarist/vocalist Daniel Martin-McCormick, bassist Jacob Long, and drummer Damon Palermo. Martin-McCormick and Long originated from Dischord’s kinetic, percussive group Dark Eye, who disbanded in 2004; both wanted to consider their music within a freer path, and played jointly briefly as the free of charge jazz-inspired duo Light Flight. Long shifted to California and Martin-McCormick implemented, studying classical electric guitar at SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA State College or university. They linked to Palermo and shaped Mi Ami in 2007, and started focusing on a audio motivated by dub, free of charge jazz, Afro-beat, and dance music. Mi Ami released some vinyl fabric singles and performed regional gigs with rings like No Age group, and were agreed upon by Quarterstick Information in 2008. Their debut for the label, the Enchonecho EP, found its way to January 2009, using their initial full-length, Watersports, carrying out a month afterwards. The band shifted to Thrill Jockey for 2010’s Grab THAT PERSON. Dolphins found its way to 2011, as well as the recurring techno throb of 10 years implemented in 2012 in the 100% Silk label.
