The dreamy lo-fi trio Mezzanines was led by singer/multi-instrumentalist Tag Baldwin, previously the frontman for the cult favorite Champaign-Urbana, Illinois-based band Lovecup. Also offering bassist Marco Nieto and drummer Alexander Dawkins, the group released their self-titled debut recording in 1998. Underground Aces adopted three years later on.
