Meth Teeth

Portland, OR’s Meth Tooth (careful when googling) includes a similar starting to another music group that formed after their frontman’s music group split up and took to composing music by himself, for himself: Bon Iver. Like Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon, Meth Teeth’s founding member Mattey Hunter began the task after wondering about how exactly satisfied he was playing in rings. Eventually, Hunter began composing acoustic folk tunes limited to himself and playing them in homes around Portland, eventually linking with drummer Kyle Raquipiso (a earlier champion of Sub Pop’s Loser Scholarship or grant) whom he credits with adding the blown-out hiss towards the recordings and getting electric instruments to their live arranged. Matt Good briefly became a member of the music group on acoustic guitar for live shows and a nationwide tour. The duo of Hunter and Raquipiso started composing and documenting together, getting materials released around the Nice Rot label, including their debut 7″ in 2007. Fall of 2009’s Everything Went Wrong, their 1st full-length, followed around the Woodsist label, adding guitarist Zach Fischmann towards the music group during the documenting process and offering a second acoustic guitar component to Meth Teeth’s fuzzy, mumbled, trashcan-rawkus haze. Fischmann remaining following the record arrived, and Aaron Levy offers since been put into the roster.
