Merrell Fankhauser

Probably one of the most interesting cult numbers in rock background, Fankhauser’s best function came as the first choice of several interesting organizations through the ’60s and early ’70s: the Effects (instrumental browse), Merrell & the Exiles (stable British Invasion-style rock and roll), Fapardokly (great Byrds-ish folk-rock), the H.M.S. Bounty (good past due-’60s folk-rock), and Mu (spaced-out intensifying blues/psychedelia). When Mu split up in the middle-’70s, Fankhauser started working like a single artist, issuing some self-employed albums. These generally show him inside a substantially mellower and even more mainstream folk-rock feeling than his previously work, occasionally recalling Crosby, Stills, & Nash and frequently offering violinist Mary Lee.
