Merna Bishouty

Blessed in Jordan, R&B-oriented vocalist and songwriter Merna Bishouty spent period surviving in Saudi Arabia, Abu Dhabi, and Seattle ahead of settling in Toronto. During youth, through her parents, she was subjected to an array of music. Being a performer, she originally passed Ayah and made an appearance on music by rapper eLZhi (“The Drip”), manufacturer Slakah the Beatchild (“Condition of the overall game”), and bassist Robert Strauss (“Odyssey Guy,” “Accurate Lays”) in 2008 and 2009. In 2011, she teamed with DJ Jazzy Jeff for Back again to get more, a lively recording released on Bandcamp as a free of charge digital download. After collaborating once again with Slakah on “CONTINUE,” a focus on of Spirit Movement, Vol. 2, Bishouty passed Merna and documented The Phoning with Ali Shaheed Muhammad and Makai Dark as executive makers. The cathartic and grand recording, tricked out with strings and thunderous drums, premiered on W.A.R. Press in 2014.
