Meredith Brooks is among the legions of feminine singer-songwriters that emerged within the wake of alternative rockers like Liz Phair and PJ Harvey. Brooks provides more in keeping with rootsier songwriters like Sheryl Crow or pop-rockers like Alanis Morrissette, that was noticeable from her initial one, “Bitch.” Essentially a replication of Morrissette’s design, “Bitch” became popular in the springtime of 1997, sending her debut record Blurring the Sides into the graphs aswell.
