Mixing wry, intelligent lyrics and erotic overtones with alternate tunings and distortion, Menthol produces its own edition of noisy punk pop. The music group began in 1991 in Champaign-Urbana, Sick., where in fact the three music group members, previous Hum bassist Balthazar De Ley (vocals and electric guitar), Joel Spencer (bass and vocals) and Colin Koteles (drums), was raised. They documented one full-length record along with a 45 on Dirt Records beneath the name Mom. A couple of years afterwards, the music group relocated to Chicago and agreed upon with Capitol Information. After finding that Mom was a common music group name, the trio renamed themselves Menthol and released an recording of the same name in 1995.
