The Melos Quartet is among the leading and longest-established string quartets from the world, and it is known for a warm, romantic sound without overstatement of emotionality, a solid grasp of form, and highly accurate, assured playing. Apr 5, 1940), champion from the 1962 International Chamber Music Competition of Venice and concertmaster from the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra since 1963. Gerhard Ernst Voss, the next violinist, given birth to in Brushed, Germany on Dec 17, 1939 and Hermann Voss, given birth to in Brünen on July 9, 1934, had been brothers who analyzed at Cologne. Hermann was the single violist from the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra while Gerhard was an associate from the Würtemberg Chamber Orchestra. Cellist Peter Buck was also an associate from the Würtemberg Chamber Orchestra. He analyzed at Düsseldorf with Freiberg. (He shouldn’t be puzzled with another musician using the same name, Peter Buck from the U.S. rock and roll group R.E.M.) The Melos Quartet began winning awards nearly when it was created in 1965. In 1966 it received the Geneva International Competition having a reward for Greatest Quartet, and an honor in the Villa-Lobos String Quartet Competition of Rio de Janeiro. In 1966 it had been delivered to represent Western Germany in the Jeunesses Musicales of Paris. In 1967 its users made a decision to resign using their numerous orchestral positions to be able to focus on quartet music regular. Since then they have toured extensively, documented frequently, and be from the best-known quartets in the globe. In 1993 Gerhard Voss remaining the quartet and was changed by Ida Bieler, soloist from the Villa Musica Outfit and Teacher of Robert Schumann Akadamie of Düsseldorf. The Melos Quartet isn’t from the Melos Outfit, a twelve-member pool of chamber players founded in London by violist Cecil Aronowitz and clarinetist Gervase de Peyer.
