Melchiorre Chiesa

An Italian composer possibly from Florence. It had been mentioned that he performed among the harpsichords in Mozart’s “Mitridate” which he also offered at La Scala. Chiesa’s theater compositions were valued by Leopold Mozart but his sacred and instrumental functions were most mentioned (they are the just functions that survive). A fascinating romantic relationship between his instrumental functions (several sonatas) and sacred items can be illustrated by Chiesa’s selected nomenclature: sonatas had been often provided sacred connotations (e.g., Sonata da Chiesa — in chapel style).
