Mayra Caridad Valdés

Cuban jazz vocalist Mayra Caridad Valdés dedicated the majority of her musical career to live show, singing within Irakere and in addition with her well-known sibling Chucho, before debuting being a recording artist in 2002. Delivered on Apr 20, 1956, to Bebo Valdés, a renowned Cuban jazz pianist, Mayra researched at the Country wide Art College in Cuba and graduated in 1975 using a level in choral music. She primarily worked being a musicologist alongside Odilio Urfe but rather turned toward executing after Harry Belafonte asked her to execute with him in 1981 at his concerts in Cuba. Third , golden chance, Valdés never appeared back again. She toured Japan and European countries as a single vocalist so that as a member of several groupings including Irakere, an organization she permanently joined up with in 1994, and in addition her sibling Chucho’s quartet. In 2002 Jazzheads released her debut single record, La Diosa del Mar, a ten-song assortment of Afro-Cuban jazz specifications, traditional folkloric tunes, and boleros.
