Maya Dashuk

Being among the most appealing operatic sopranos to emerge in the turn-of-the-21st century era is Russian-born Maya Dashuk. Champion of several tournaments, including the esteemed Montserrat Caballé Melody Competition in 1999, she’s garnered rave testimonials in a wide range of assignments: Musetta (Puccini’s La bohème), Liu (Puccini’s Turandot), Micaela (Bizet’s Carmen), Tatiana (Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin), Donna Elvira (Mozart’s Don Giovanni), and many more. She has made an appearance at many of the leading operatic locations in Russia, Italy, France, Switzerland, as well as the U.S., and in addition regularly appears on the main recital halls throughout the world. In addition, she’s documented for such well-known brands as Naxos, Arthaus Musik, and TDK. Dashuk’s many supporters will assert that her tone of voice is as appealing as her spectacular appearance: her effective, lyrical voice tasks both lush beauty and tonal heft, enabling her tone of voice to soar above intensely scored passages also to impart a fresh depth in lots of assignments; her Micaela is normally, for once, not passive. Maya Dashuk was created in St. Petersburg, Russia, in 1976. She examined music on the Rimsky-Korsakov St. Petersburg Condition Conservatory. From 1996, Dashuk have scored many successes in vocal tournaments: she was a prizewinner that calendar year on the Diaghilev Competition and, in 1999, on the Glinka Competition. Afterwards in 1999 her most significant triumph emerged when she gained first prize on the Montserrat Caballé Competition in Andorra. That same calendar year she produced her Rome debut on the Teatro dell’Opera as Musetta. She reprised the function the following calendar year there and continued to make performances on the Mariinski Movie theater in St. Petersburg as Tatiana and Violetta in Verdi’s La Traviata. In 2001 she sang Violetta once again, this time on the Verdi Celebration in Parma. That same calendar year she came into the Placido Domingo Operalia Globe Opera Competition in Washington, where she captured third reward. Dashuk produced her first main documenting in 2003 when she made an appearance as Micaela in the Franco Zeffirelli creation of Carmen in the Market di Verona. The TDK Dvd and blu-ray from the overall performance was released to rave evaluations in 2004 (reissued this year 2010). In 2004 Dashuk branched out when she sang the mezzo-soprano part of Carmen in the Avenches Opera Event in Switzerland. She reprised the part with great achievement in the Seoul Arts Middle in South Korea in November 2007. Among Dashuk’s later on recordings may be the acclaimed 2009 Naxos Dvd and blu-ray of Puccini’s La Rondine, wherein she portrays Lisette.
