Mavis Rivers

Jazz vocalist Mavis Streams recorded for Reprise, Capitol, and Vee-Jay in the first ’60s prior to making a surprising return in the first ’80s. Also known to be mom of Matt Catingub, Streams was created in 1929 in Apia, Upolu, Traditional western Samoa, and shifted to Pago Pago (American Samoa) following the Pearl Harbor bombing. She became a member of her father’s music group being a vocalist and interested soldiers stationed in Pago Pago. After that, once WWII finished, her family members relocated again, shifting to New Zealand, where she continuing performing. She experienced some achievement being a vocalist in New Zealand and shortly decided to proceed to the Areas. After a short stay in Sodium Lake Town, UT, she finished up in LA, CA, where she proved helpful being a secretary through the days along with a nightclub vocalist during the evenings, using a Hawaiian music group that highlighted her husband to be, bassist David Catingub. By the finish from the ’50s, she’d have scored a recording agreement with Capitol Information and debuted using the Take a Amount LP (1959), that was organized and executed by Nelson Riddle. Even more records implemented: Hooray for Appreciate (1960, Capitol), organized and executed by Jack port Marshall; THE EASY Lifestyle (1960, Capitol), organized and carried out by Dick Reynolds; Mavis (1961, Reprise), organized and carried out by Marty Paich; Golf swing ALONGSIDE Mavis (1961, Reprise), organized and carried out by Vehicle Alexander; Mavis Matches Shorty Rogers (1961, Reprise), organized by Chuck Sagle; and, finally, We Keep in mind Mildred Bailey (1964, Vee-Jay). In the first ’80s, she came back to singing, showing up on two of her son’s albums: Matt Catingub’s My Mommy and Me (1983, Ocean Air flow) and Hi-Tech Big Music group (1984, Sea Air flow). Furthermore, she released a single recording of her personal during this unexpected amount of activity, It’s an excellent Day time (1983, Delos). In 1990, she added to her son’s I’m Obtaining Cement AROUND Me album, and unfortunately experienced an untimely fatal heart stroke on-stage in 1992, getting her singing profession to some close.
