Matthews, Wright & Ruler were a studio room set up masterminded by Columbia Nashville manufacturer Larry Strickland. At that time (the first ’90s), Shenandoah experienced drowned under a influx of bad promotion, lawsuits, and label woes. It had been Columbia’s idea to stage in to the breach remaining by Shenandoah’s departure. Compared to that end, Strickland as well as the label curved up vocalist/guitarist Raymond Matthews (who was simply currently contracted with Columbia to accomplish a solo recording), bassist/vocalist Woody Wright, and guitarist/vocalist Tony Ruler.
