Matthews Southern Comfort

This UK band was formed by former Fairport Convention singer/guitarist Iain Matthews (b. Ian Matthew McDonald, 16 June 1946, Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire, Britain), and was called after his 1969 debut for MCA Information. Comprising Matthews, Tag Griffiths (acoustic guitar), Carl Barnwell (acoustic guitar), Gordon Huntley (pedal metal acoustic guitar), Andy Leigh (bass) and Ray Duffy (drums), the recently formed music group authorized to EMI Information. The device’s country-tinged sound became an excellent discussion board for Matthews’ songwriting skills. In the summertime of 1970, their second recording, Second Springtime reached the united kingdom Best 40 and was accompanied by a winter season chart-topper, ‘Woodstock’.
