Matt Shulman

Matt Shulman, alternately referred to as Matt truck Roderick, is really a jazz/pop trumpeter and vocalist who’s grounded in traditional jazz but has ventured into fusing his principal genre with rap and EDM (electronic dance music). He began learning music with traditional piano and violin lessons in his indigenous Vermont at age group three. Picking right up the baritone horn at age group eight, and trumpet at 12, it had been apparent Shulman was a prodigy. After senior high school, he gained his B.A. from Oberlin Conservatory and his Master’s level from NY University with the Vilar Fellowship. In 1997 he was a finalist on the esteemed Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition; in 2002 he performed with the brand new York Pops Orchestra and in 2003 was honored Jazz Musician of the entire year on the Separate Music Awards. Following that the trumpeter collaborated within a whirlwind of jazz configurations, including stints with Joe Lovano, Brad Mehldau, John Medeski, and Nneena Freelon. His initial album, SO THAT IT Goes, was released in 2007. He afterwards moved from NEW YORK to LA and transformed his executing name to Matt truck Roderick. On Hero’s Trip, released in 2016, the musician included rap, drum’n’bass, and dubstep components with pop hooks and boastful rhymes.
