Matt Duke

Philadelphia-based singer and songwriter Matt Duke was created and spent his childhood in Southern Shirt, where he began playing piano at age seven and taught himself guitar a year or two later. Shifting to Philadelphia for his high-school years, Duke started playing coffeehouses in the region and eventually documented a small number of music demos that finished up on the compilation released by Drexel University’s student-run Mad Dragon Information. Reaction to Duke’s efforts to the task resulted in him documenting a full-length recording, Winter Child, monitored at Shinebox Studios in N.Con.C. and made by Stewart Lerman, Stewart Smith, and Jim Klein, that was released by Mad Dragon in 2006 and written by Ryko. A sophomore recording, Kingdom Underground, also written by Ryko, made an appearance in 2008.
