Matson Jones featured two cellists/vocalists, a drummer, and an upright bassist. No-one was called Matson Jones — the band’s name was a sly artwork world reference point. But with the interesting harmonies and sawing cellos of Martina Grbac and Anna Mascorella out front side along with a straightforwardly generating rhythm portion of Ross Harada (drums) and Matt Regan (bass), the Fort Collins, CO-based quartet made a organic sound near conventional indie rock and roll.
