Matrixxman

Beneath the name Matrixxman, DJ/manufacturer Charles McCloud Duff creates stripped-down analog acid house and techno, using the word “Resurgent Techno Atavism” to spell it out his function. Originally from Arlington, Virginia, Duff transferred to SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA and became associated with digital music and hip-hop, developing creation duos Amen Sibling (with regular collaborator Vin Sol) and 5kinAndBone5 (with Paavo Steinkamp aka Earthman). 5kinAndBone5 became most widely known because of their hip-hop productions, especially their focus on Le1f’s 2012 strike “Wut,” however they became uninterested in hip-hop and started releasing house monitors on Soo Wavey Information (which Duff co-founded with Vin Sol) and U.K. label Unidentified to the Unidentified. Duff began using the name Matrixxman in 2012, and started launching 12″s (by himself and in cooperation with Vin Sol and Nick Hook) in 2013, two which (Dirty Laundry and I COULD Feel It) appear to be straight motivated by Larry Heard’s traditional mid-’80s acid home monitors as Mr. Fingertips (specifically “WASHER” and “IS IT POSSIBLE TO Experience It”). In 2014 many Matrixxman EPs noticed release on brands including Dekmantel (Nubian Metropolis), Delft (808 Mind-set and a divide with La-4a), and Spectral Audio (Amulet), as his monitors appeared in pieces by DJs which range from Levon Vincent and Huerco S. to veterans such as for example Jeff Mills and Richie Hawtin. In 2015, Vin Sol and Matrixxman’s Daddy Problems EP made an appearance on Icee Sizzling, and Spectral Audio released Matrixxman’s StuxNet EP, which presented remixes by Hieroglyphic Becoming and Silent Servant. Spectral Sound’s sister label Ghostly International released Matrixxman’s 2015 full-length debut Homesick, which continuing to refine his minimal acidity house design, but also included several ambient items and shown his obsession with sci-fi and technology.
