Massimo Lonardi

Massimo Lonardi is a favorite lutenist who appears in concert both being a soloist so that as an associate of chamber ensembles. But like many lutenists, Lonardi also takes on additional related stringed tools, including the acoustic guitar and vihuela. He’s also accurate to historic methods: when he takes on Renaissance-era acoustic guitar music, for example, he runs on the Renaissance acoustic guitar, which is smaller sized and offers only four, rather than six strings. In every instrumental tasks he offers focused mainly on Renaissance-era music. In lute repertory Lonardi offers paid particular focus on the functions of Italian composers, including Francesco Canova da Milano, Joan Ambrosio Dalza, Vincenzo Capirola, Pietro Paulo Borrono, and a bunch of others. Lonardi in addition has shown a choice for the lute music of British composer John Dowland as well as the vihuela functions of Spaniard Luis de Milán. But his preferences are not limited by the music of just a couple countries: his repertory contains functions by Frenchman Adrien Le Roy, Franco-Flemish Jakob Arcadelt, German-Italian Johann (Giovanni) Kapsberger, and Augsburg, Germany-born Grégoire Brayssing. Though Lonardi is quite active like a performer, he also discovers time to instruct: he’s a teacher of lute efficiency in the Istituto Superiore di Studi Musicali in Pavia and in addition in the Venice-based Scuola di Musica Antica di Venezia. Lonardi offers made several recordings, a lot of which can be found on Stradivarius, Nuova Period, Teldec, Erato, Jecklin, Edelweiss, and Agora. Massimo Lonardi was created in Milan in 1953. He enrolled in the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in Milan, where he researched electric guitar with Ruggero Chiesa and structure with Azio Corghi. Pursuing graduation he considered studies over the lute with Hopkinson Smith. Lonardi shortly began making single performances in lute repertory, confining his profession mostly to European countries, however. By the first ’90s he was celebrated through the entire continent, with ratings of critically acclaimed lute and electric guitar recordings to his credit. In 1999 he was honored first award in the instrumental category in the prestigious Italian newspaper Musica e Dischi (Music and Discs) for his Agora Compact disc containing functions by John Dowland. The majority of his recordings because the middle-’90s have made an appearance over the Nuova Period and Stradivarius brands. In the brand new hundred years Lonardi provides remained energetic both being a concert performer and instructor. Among his afterwards recordings may be the 2009 Stradivarius Compact disc, 6 Books of Music for the Vihuela.
