Following the breakup of Rema Rema, Gary Asquith, Mick Allen, and Mark Cox formed the art-damaged discordance of Mass with Danny Briottet. Among the first 4AD rings, they debuted using the You and I one in 1980, chasing it up a season later using the full-length Labour of Like. Asquith and Briottet continued as Renegade Soundwave, while Allen and Cox proceeded to go in to the Wolfgang Press.
