Acquiring their name from a historical Japanese fight axe wielded from the Yamabushi, or “warrior monks,” Masakari certainly are a crustcore/D-beat quintet from Cleveland, OH, influenced by usual suspects like Release, His Hero IS FULLY GONE, and all types of Japanese hardcore. Dynamic since 2006, the group patiently dug its way to avoid it from the underground trenches and was ultimately “found out” from the Southern Lord label, which released their debut recording, The Prophet Feeds, this year 2010, to very much critical acclaim.
