Masaaki Suzuki

Masaaki Suzuki was better referred to as a keyboard participant in the 1st decade roughly of his profession, but since about 1990 has generated himself among the leading conductors of Baroque choral music. Suzuki was created in Kobe, Japan, on Apr 29, 1954. As a kid he exhibited musical skill in early stages and by age group 12 was a cathedral organist. He afterwards enrolled on the Tokyo Country wide University of Great Arts and Music, where he examined composition and body organ. His instructors there included Akio Yashiro and Tsuguo Hirono. After finding a master’s level in organ functionality in 1979 (his bachelor’s is at structure), he made a decision to consider further education, enrolling on the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam to review body organ with Piet Kee and harpsichord with Lot Koopman. In 1980 he was honored second award in harpsichord improvisation on the Flanders Early Music Celebration in Bruges, Belgium, and 3 years afterwards received third award for body organ playing there. During this time period he also trained harpsichord on the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik in Duisburg, Germany (1981-1983). From 1983 he began showing up frequently in Japan simply because an body organ and harpsichord soloist, even though serving over the faculty at Kobe Shoin Women’s University. He also began conducting little ensembles, a task that grew over time, resulting in his founding from the Bach Collegium Japan in 1990. This ensemble, composed of performers and period instrumentalists, started showing up in regular concerts in 1992 with Suzuki as music movie director. This brand-new activity put into Suzuki’s already active timetable of soloist and instructor: in 1991, he previously been appointed teacher of body organ and harpsichord on the Tokyo Country wide University of Great Arts and Music, a post he still kept in the brand new hundred years. Suzuki and his ensemble started recording most of J.S. Bach’s cantatas in 1995 for BIS Information, as well as for the same label he continues to be recording Bach’s comprehensive harpsichord result. In 1999 Suzuki was honored a Mobil Music Award in identification of the overall success he provides attained in the functionality of Bach’s music.
