Martyr

One of the most interesting, if short-lived rock bands to look at the favorite name, Martyr, this quintet from Utretch, Holland, was formed by guitarist Rick Bouwman in 1982, and performed an extremely technical, pre-thrash design of melodic quickness metal, seeing that evidenced on the very first demonstration, entitled “WHETHER IT’S Too Loud, You’re Too Aged,” recorded afterwards that year. Nonetheless it was the band’s second demonstration, 1983’s “Steel Torture,” that got them observed by important Aardschok newspaper and resulted in several compilation performances, and an eventual agreement with regional Megaton Information, which released Martyr’s debut record, For the World, in 1985. At that time, the band’s lineup contains vocalist Gerard Vergouw, guitarists Bouwman and Marcel Heesakkers, bassist Antoine Truck Der Linden, and drummer Elias Papadopoulos, who lay out on the tour of European countries helping Canadian thrashers Exciter; they guaranteed a new cope with Metalloid Information as they were consistently getting to focus on their sophomore record, Darkness at Time’s Advantage. Released to mainly reviews that are positive in 1986, the LP was advertised using the band’s 1st music video and extra touring in allegiance with Dutch hard rockers, Hi thereïse, but product sales were still slow, and Martyr finished up splitting up by the next year, feeling disappointed by their record company’s lack of ability to properly spread the record. They might re-form in Oct 2001 for a particular performance in the ROCK Maniacs Event, and continuing to reunite sporadically over time that followed, ultimately announcing a fresh studio recording was in the look phases for 2009.
