Marty Holmes

Marty Holmes is primarily known for his romantic relationship with Latin bandleader Tito Puente, with whom he served seeing that both a sideman and a composer. In the last mentioned category there are many evocative game titles and musical queries, perhaps linked to each other regarding “The Floozie” and “WHAT EXACTLY ARE You Doing, Honey?,” respectively. Vocalist Bobby Darin trim Holmes’ “Was There a Demand Me?” some eons prior to the invention from the cellular phone. A Brooklyn guy, Holmes dabbled with violin and experienced the reed family members as an adolescent. His found piano by himself and by the past due ’40s had discovered employment in some dance rings. The Holmes surname was a stage name, most likely changed from the initial Hausman because of open public distaste for everything German in this time around period. The Puente connection, leading to at least twelve albums, came into being pursuing Holmes’ stints with Neal Hefti and Tommy Reynolds, amongst others. A lot of the Puente catalog offering this musician was reissued in the ’90s. The only real Holmes solo work was the festive Artwork Ford’s Party for Marty, originally released in 1959.
