Martin Best

Critics have got dubbed Martin Ideal a “modern troubadour” for his energetic shows of minstrel music from the center Ages. Greatest has produced over two dozen recordings like a single singer, often associated himself on early guitars and lutes. His recordings consist of single songs (notably from the Swedish poet/songwriter Carl Michael Bellman) and ensemble use his own groupings the Martin Greatest Medieval Ensemble as well as the Martin Greatest Consort. He in addition has performed and documented music from Shakespeare’s Britain and was a musician on the Royal Shakespeare Firm for over twenty years. In 1983, he gained the International Edison Award and Gramophone Magazine’s Critics’ Award. Greatest provides lectured on middle ages music at many universities in Britain and america.
