Martha Lipton

Martha Lipton had a significant American operatic profession being a mezzo-soprano and alto, showing up nearly 300 occasions in the Metropolitan Opera Home between 1944 and 1961. Well known premieres where Lipton participated are the 1st American overall performance of Hugo Wolf’s Der Corregidor within a concert realization in NY, and she made the function of Augusta in Douglas Moore’s The Ballad of Baby Doe on the Central Town Opera Home, Central Town, Colorado, on July 7, 1956, duplicating the performance the next April with the brand new York Town Opera. Lipton also made an appearance in Europe, especially in Paris and Vienna. Since 19690 she’s been a Teacher of Performing at Indiana School in Bloomington, Indiana, where, faculty rosters suggest, she shows part-time.
