Marquis Hill

Award-winning trumpeter, composer, and bandleader Marquis Hill is definitely an experienced jazz musician having a bent toward soulful post-bop. A indigenous of Chicago, Hill gained his B.A. in music education and jazz research from North Illinois University in ’09 2009. 3 years later on, he received his Master’s level in jazz pedagogy from DePaul College or university. An extremely lauded performer, Hill earned 1st place in both 2012 International Trumpet Guild’s Jazz Improvisation Competition as well as the 2013 Carmine Caruso International Jazz Trumpet Single Competition. As a specialist musician, he offers performed with several performers including Benny Golson, Rodney Whitaker, Steve Turre, while others. He released his debut recording, New Gospel, in 2011, accompanied by Seems of the town in 2012. His third full-length recording, The Poet, made an appearance in 2013. In 2014, Hill obtained even more acclaim by earning the renowned Thelonious Monk Institute’s International Jazz Competition. Within his award, Hill gained a recording agreement using the Concord GROUP. On the pumps of his earn, he released his 4th studio record, the hip-hop-infused Contemporary Moves EP, Vol. 1. In 2016, he shipped his Concord debut, JUST HOW We Play.
