Marques Toliver

Probably one of the most unique performers to appear through the 2010s, Marques Toliver is a songwriter, maker, violinist, and vocalist from Daytona Seaside, Florida. He started to research music at age ten and later on went to Stetson University’s College of Music, where he researched traditional violin. A proceed to NY — where he frequently busked — led him to shows and recordings with An Albatross, Grizzly Carry, TV on the air, Bat for Lashes, Holly Miranda, and Kilometers Benjamin Anthony Robinson. This year 2010, he made an appearance for the BBC’s Later on…with Jools Holland and performed a solo violin-and-vocals version of his music “White Sails” (a demo version which he self-released the same year). Soon after putting your signature on to Simon Raymonde’s Bella Union label (house to Beach Home, Fleet Foxes, and Veronica Falls), Toliver released the four-track EP Butterflies AREN’T Totally free (2011). The solitary “Magic Appear” (2012) adopted like a precursor to Toliver’s 1st album, Property of CanAan, released in-may 2013.
