NY resident Marly Hornik is probably the more promising feminine singer/songwriters who made her recording debut in the first 2000s. For Hornik, the term “female vocalist/songwriter” is not associated with “upset young female.” Unlike lots of the “upset young ladies” who surfaced in the ‘90s–Alanis Morisette, Tracy Bonham, Ani DiFranco, among others–Hornik hasn’t brought a good amount of angst and anger to her pop-rock and adult alternate tunes.
