Mark Sanders

b. 31 August 1960, Beckenham, Kent, Britain. A self-taught drummer who combines power with agility and accuracy, Sanders started his career using a disco music group at UK American Surroundings Power bases. He considered jazz in 1984, learning with Will Evans who, along with Elvin Jones and Tony Oxley, was a significant influence. His initial jazz engagements had been with Lyn Dobson, Stu Dark brown, Pete Nu and Elton Dean. In 1987, he became a member of Mervyn Afrika’s Kaap Finale and produced a duo with Phil Durrant. Since 1988 Sanders provides performed in duos and trios with Evan Parker, and provides often caused bass participant Paul Rogers. He and Rogers possess provided a rigorous and versatile tempo section for Atlas (with John Rules on piano), Parker, Dennis Gonzalez as well as the Elton Dean Trio. He also caused Jon Lloyd and Heart Level, and was area of the Paul Rogers Sextet which toured Britain in 1990 using the Arts Council-commissioned Anglo American Sketches. Sanders offers used Dreamtime (with Nick Evans), Dick Heckstall-Smith’s DHSS, and in a quartet with Peter Cusack, Clive Bell and Dean Broderick.
