Mark Owen

Biography

Probably most widely known among the founding members of Take That — together with Gary Barlow, Jason Orange, Robbie Williams, and Howard Donald — Mark Owen effectively carved a solo career following the group’s initial break-up in 1996. Created in Oldham, Britain, in 1972, Owen’s unique boyhood fantasy was to become professional soccer participant, and subsequent tests for Manchester United, Rochdale, and Huddersfield City demonstrated fruitless after a personal injury eliminate any potential for a sporting profession. Joining Consider That in 1989, the five-piece continued to be among the U.K.’s biggest-selling son rings until their break up in 1996. Getting the first person in Take That release a a solo recording, Owen drafted in maker John Leckie — who got become known for his use the Rock Roses and Radiohead and have been from the explosion from the Brit-pop picture — to provide the recording an alternative advantage. Green Man premiered by the end of 1996 and debuted at quantity 33 for the U.K. recording graphs, while spawning three singles, Clementine, Kid, and I Am What I Am. While reasonably successful, the recording didn’t reach the lofty levels that fellow Consider That people Barlow, and specifically, Williams, ultimately reached and in 1999 Owen was lowered by BMG. After hanging out from the limelight, Owen made an appearance in the next U.K. group of Celebrity YOUR GOVERNMENT in 2002, heading on to become crowned the champion by firmly taking 77-percent of the general public vote. Along with his newfound popularity, he inked a documenting deal with Isle Records along with a 12 months later on released his sophomore recording, 2003’s WITHIN YOUR OWN Time. After somewhat disappointing product sales, Owen setup his personal label, Sedna Information, in 2004 and continued to self-release his third recording, 2005’s The way the Mighty Fall. That same 12 months, Consider That announced that they had re-formed for any sell-out stadium tour and Owen’s single career was placed on keep. It wasn’t until 2012 that Owen would go back to the studio room alone — following the substantial success of Consider That’s second arriving — to re-launch his single career. Recording a lot of the recording by himself, Owen recruited Charlie Russell, Bradley Spence, and Starsmith to combine and create what would become 2013’s The Artwork of Doing Nothing at all.
