Mark Guiliana

Tag Guiliana is a drummer, trombonist, electronicist, composer, as well as the creator of Defeat Music. He was created in Florham Recreation area, NJ in 1980. From child years on, he previously been thinking about music of most types, but he didn’t in fact start formal drum research until the age group of 15 with 4Front drummer Joe Bergamini. While in senior high school, he performed in a variety of ensembles, from big music group to rock and roll and prog rock and roll rings to funk. He went to William Patterson School in his house condition, where he majored in jazz research under John Riley and Kevin Norton. After graduating in 2003, Guiliana became a member of Avishai Cohen’s studio room and touring groupings. He made an appearance on six albums using the music group. Furthermore to his use Cohen and in HEERNT, Guiliana performed in program and live capacities using a diverse selection of performers including Me’Shell NDegéocello, oudist Dhafer Youssef, Matisyahu, Gretchen Parlato, Brad Shepik, and Bobby McFerrin. Guiliana released a self-titled EP this year 2010. In 2012 he produced a new music group called Defeat Music; the ensemble released its debut EP afterwards that season. He released the digital record A kind of Truth in 2013. Co-produced by Ndegéocello, the established melded jazz, dub, funk, glitch, hip-hop, rock and roll, and even more, with a number of program players including guitarist Nir Felder, saxophonist David Binney, and four different bassists including his co-producer. Afterwards in the entire year, Guiliana and Brad Mehldau produced the ambitious, genre-blurring duo Mehliana. Their debut providing, Mehliana: Taming the Dragon, made an appearance on non-esuch in Feb of 2014.
