Marisa Gata Mansa

A member from the bossa nova gang, Marisa Gata Mansa blends vocal jazz abilities and theatrical knowledge in extremely personal performances, having had success with “Viagem” (João de Aquino/Paulo César Pinheiro), “Leva-me Contigo” (Dolores Durán), “Tudo Acabado” (J. Piedade/Oswaldo Martins), “Leopardo” (Essential Lima), and “Caçador de Mim” (Luiz Carlos Sá/Sérgio Magrão). She began as a specialist crooner at the original Copacabana Palace Hotel’s Golden Area in Rio, beneath the name Marisa. Through her friend, Dolores Durán, she became involved with bossa nova. Her initial documenting was 1953’s “Você Esteve com Meu Bem” (João Gilberto/Russo perform Pandeiro). In 1954, João Gilberto, with whom she acquired an affair, had taken her towards the Midnight nightclub and shortly she was executing in the main bossa nova night clubs just like the Beco das Garrafas. In 1958, she documented “Chega de Saudade” (Tom Jobim/Vinícius de Moraes). In the movie theater, she caused Lennie Dale, Taiguara, and Caetano Veloso.
