Before Tracey Thorn established herself with Everything however the Lady, she produced mellow, spare indie pop using the all-female act the Sea Girls. Inspired from the Raincoats as well as the Youthful Marble Giants, Thorn created the Sea Ladies with her schoolmate Gina and Jane Fox in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, Britain, in 1980.
