Even more singles implemented, as do the hot-selling album Another Stage, and Mena’s cred pass on throughout European countries. By 2004 Mena was 18, and prepared to consider her dark-eyed glamour and soft, faintly-alternative pop (aided in build by Norwegian songwriter/manufacturer Arvid Solvang) to the worldwide stage. Initial, her Mellow LP noticed Scandinavian and Western european concern in January of this year. It had been backed by the one “You’re the only person,” a sonic sister to Alanis Morissette’s “Hands Clean,” and likewise first-person confessional (“You’re the only person who retains my hair when I’m drunk and obtain sick”). After that, in springtime, the single made an appearance on U.S. shores, with anxious provides at tastemaking Best 40 retailers. By Might, the online video for “You’re the only person” — which can as well have already been a Noxema advertisement with its pictures of squeaky-clean teenagers horsing around and generally searching radiant and great — was entrenched at MTV’s TRL. Something known as the Teenager People Rock and roll ‘n’ Shop Shopping mall Tour was following for Mena. As crazy because the gig sounded, direct-to-audience advertising of the type have been effectively introducing teenage pop stars through the hair spray times of Tiffany towards the neckties and scowls of Avril Lavigne. Light Transforms Blue, Mena’s full-length local debut, slipped in July 2004. It highlighted slightly tweaked paths from Mena’s Western european output, and place a point on her behalf well-timed U.S. pop takeover.
